Care for your Pottery.
Pottery while Strong, can be brittle when exposed to blunt force impact or thermal shock. to ensure the longevity of your pottery please follow the following steps listen below.
1.) Preferably hand wash your ceramics.
While all my work is microwave and dishwasher safe, it is always recommended to handwashing's my work.
why? : The reason I recommend handwashing is not because the dishwasher itself will do any damage. It's the risk of another pot falling onto a piece of pottery and breaking it. If you stack your dishwasher well you will not have problems, however handwashing always takes away any risk.
2.) Thermal Shock.
Pottery doesn't like thermal shock. examples of this may be taking a casserole from a hot oven and putting it into a sink of cold water. This can cause cracks.
Whenever you put a pot into an over make sure it is oven safe. Only casseroles and cooking pots are oven safe.
3.) Keep out of reach of children.
4.) Always best to wash out straight after use. especially with Matte Glazes. This will prevent staining.
5.) don't ding your pottery, place it somewhere safe.
Pottery is durable. but exposure to constant dings may cause small hairline fractures to appear and eventually crack the pot. To ensure the longevity of Jacobs Pottery, handle with care.
